Basic Condition for Durian Trees Growth
Soil
Durian is a tropical fruit, so before planting, you must consider the climate of the planting land, as well as other aspects of farming. The choice of soil is also very important because durian needs a lot of nutrients to grow, so it must be selected in a fertile area with good permeability and the thicker ground underneath. In this way, the survival rate of durian seeds will be greatly improved.
Temperature
Durian needs more sunlight to grow, and it is best if there is not much difference in the climate throughout the year. Therefore, the tropical rain forests of Malaysia are most suitable for growing durians. The best growth temperature for durian is generally between 25 and 30 degrees. If the temperature is too low, the growth of the durian tree will be affected, or even frostbite.
Density
Durians need a lot of sunlight to grow, so the density of the durian tree should be appropriate. If the density is too dense, most of the durian branches and leaves will be covered. Without sunlight, the harvest of durian will be greatly reduced. Hence, we generally recommend that there are not more than 80 durian trees per acre. The best density of durian trees is that the distance between one plant is about 2 to 5 meters, and the distance between each row is 5 meters.
Fertilizer
Treating durian trees with fertilizer water can increase durian quality and production. When the durian enters the resting period, the farmers must apply fertilizer once to ensure the next durian harvest. Adult fruit trees must also be fertilized after the season. Fruit farmers must use flower fertilizer and strong fruit fertilizer to ensure and improve the growth of durian and make the durian fruit grow better.
Scattered Fruit
A durian tree is able to support a limited number of durians so that some bad fruits have to be knocked down every year to ensure the healthy growth of the durian trees. Failure to do so will cause the entire durian tree to look fragile and malaise. The most frightening thing in the growth process of the durian tree is too many fruits hang at the same time, because they will be competing for nutrients, and finally wither. Therefore, the unhealthy fruits on the durian tree must be removed. Not only that, the durians that are entangled in insects, infected, and looking weird must be removed.
