Differentiate Between Young Durian Tree And Old Durian Tree.

The scent and flavour of durian differ depending on the age of the tree. Durian trees that are between 7 – 15 years old are generally referred to as young trees. The husk and thorns of the young Musang King durian are both green in hue. Young durian trees can yield more durians, but their flavour is lighter. On the contrary, old trees are defined as those durian trees that are more than 15 years old. As the durian tree becomes older, the colour of durians will darken to dark green, brown, or even earthy grey. Old durian trees produce fewer durians, but their flavour is relatively richer and more mellow. The durian foodie generally like to eat old tree’s durian, because they mainly want to enjoy its quality instead of focusing on its quantity.
